Lauren Mehta

Registered Dietitian

Lauren Mehta, MS, RD, LD, CDN is a Registered Dietitian (RD) who is passionate about helping others improve their health. She believes small, consistent and sustainable diet and lifestyle choices can have a significant impact on overall wellness and be an important part of managing and preventing chronic disease.

She advocates for better health through nutrition education using a non-diet approach and believes in focusing on which foods to eat rather than which foods not to.

She believes everyone is unique. Each patient’s nutrition plan incorporates individual circumstances such as work and family situations, cultural preferences, time constraints, cost and taste. Patients learn how to eat more whole, minimally processed foods and make better diet decisions for their lifetime.  

Lauren resides in Atlanta with her family. She has two young children who keep her on her toes - and busy with lots of laundry.

Training & Experience

Lauren has over 15 years of clinical nutrition and counseling experience with a wide variety of patients from all over the globe.

Prior to starting her nutrition practice, Lauren was the lead dietitian at NYU’s Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehab Center for 10 years, working closely with a team of healthcare providers improving the health of people with Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, Renal Disease, Pulmonary Disorders, and pre-/post- Transplant, amongst others.

Through her experience at NYU, Lauren is uniquely positioned to navigate complex health issues and coordinate care with a patient’s medical care team.

Education

Lauren holds a Masters Degree from NYU in Clinical Nutrition.

She is accredited by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and completed her Dietetic Internship in 2008 after graduating from Penn State in 2007.
